Games – Games/Arts Collaboration

Interesting news from Korea, where Softmax, the Korean developer currently working on Magna Carta 2, has signed a deal with PMC Production, a company that creates musicals and exporting Korean popular culture across the globe.

Through the deal, the two companies hope to foster strategic collaboration across their respective original intellectual properties. A statement to the press revealed: “Both companies are planning to cooperate with the goal of generating profits by strengthening the brand of the original works each of them owns, and a diverse range of additional businesses.” Yun Seong-hyeon, CFO of Softmax, said: “Through this cooperation, we shall let the world know of the excellence of Korean cultural content.” The deal should see several of PMC’s productions made the subject of video game releases.
This is a particularly interesting model in light of 4iP and Arts Council WM’s Digital Content Development Fund.
