Interesting news from Canada, where a TV reality competition seeks out the next generation of film-makers.
Each week, two writer/director duos are given three days to make a two-minute film. They are allocated locations and actors but have to do everything else from writing to editing as the project unfolds over a 30-minute episode.
At the end of each episode the short films are screened and viewers vote for the best one. The audience decides the winning team at the end of the 26-episode series. The format was showcased at Mipcom and Distraction Formats, which owns the UK rights, will be pitching it in the UK.
